Perlino are horses that look striking with their exceptionally rare coat colours and adorably sweet temperaments.

In my search for Perlino horses, I have found that these equines are most often of a medium size with a sturdy build making them perfect for almost any discipline.

They also have a friendly disposition, and they tend to bond well with their handlers. There are also some health concerns related to this colour, which will be explained later in the post.

Perlino horses are a beautiful & wonderful breed that is famous for their color and the characteristic features. In this post, I will talk about what makes the bloom unique and its genetic composition for creating such wonderful colours!

Defining Characteristics

PerlinoHorse coat color light cream with a bright or even golden tone. Their eyes are blue or hazel, making them even more beautiful. They have a fine body structure and are usually quite athletic and sturdy.

This Perlino color is produced from specific genetic composition. This is where a chestnut horse has two copies of the cream gene (C Cr). So there is a Perlino gene which serves to lighten the base coat color thus creating that fabulous and stunning shade.

Unlike a cremello horse that carries two cream genes but is typically very light with blue eyes. These two colors are often mistaken for one another, but they vary by their base color.

Perlino horse health problems They are susceptible to some genetic disease since they have a special coat colour. Uveitis is one such issue. It is an eye disease that can result in vision loss.

PERLINO MANAGEMENT The best ways to keep a Perlino healthy and avoid problems are pretty similar. And, I promise you to feed fiber which is primarily important for their gut health.

This usually includes good-quality hay and grains ( oats, barley, alfalfa pellets).

Do regular exercise as well. I always try to keep my horse in shape with a good work out. This will help in avoiding other health conditions as well, like obesity etc.

I notice their way of living closely. This reduces health problems through clean and dry bedding in their stall. Ensuring balanced hooves and grooming to prevent issues like thrush or skin infections.

The unusual character traits of perlino horses allow them to be used in different activities. They tend to be friendly, and they are eager to please — a combination that can affect how they behave around others.

Perlino horses are usually very gentle and calm. These dogs are known to be good with people and bond strongly with their owners or handlers.

Perlino horses are able to do anything and everything is every discipline. They are great to be kept in pairs, and their amiable nature makes them highly companionable for trails or novice riders.

At competitive events they perform well in disciplines such as dressage, jumping or endurance riding of this format. They are taught how to learn and transform, which helps them in any endeavor they pursue.
